  • Story: Been a NHB/MMA fan since 95 when this kid working at a mom and pop video store that I used to rent from told me about the UFC. I watched the first 3-4 events on tape and have been an avid fan ever since.

    I was always fascinated with the martial arts and one on one competition, wrestled a little freestyle in high school and took some Judo classes at the YMCA my senior year.

    Trained for 2.5 years in a hybrid style called Goshin Jitsu - traditional JJ/Judo with Kempo and Wing Chun Kung Fu from Professor James Muro in the mid 90's.

    I took a submission wrestling class from Frank Shamrock at AKA in 98/99 for about 9 months.

    Got sidetracked with some personal bullshit, divorced a couple years ago and in June 07 decided to start training again. I'm currently taking BJJ, Judo and MuyThai. Once I get a fresh year under my belt I plan to fight an amateur fight (or three), for shits and giggles. See how I do and go from there. No illusions about making a career out of it at my age (wish I had stayed focussed in my 20's).

    I'm divorced with 2 kids, and enjoying the Portland OR area.

    Interests outside of MMA include fitness, outdoors activities (skiing, hiking, camping, etc), science, reading (Sci-fi/fantasy, historical, & science), video games (computer and console), good food, good friends and good times.

    Aug 08 - Update - I now have that fresh one year plus under my belt. I'm switching gyms here in a couple weeks to the new TeamQuest in Tualitin being opened by Scott McQuarry formerly of Team OJJ. Hope to make my MMA amateur debut before years end stay tuned!
